Menu Highlights

One of the most exciting parts about dining at Heron on the Lake is diving into their thoughtfully curated menu — a seasonal showcase of British pub classics reimagined with fresh, local ingredients and a modern twist. It’s the kind of place where each dish feels comforting yet elevated, and where even the simplest plate comes out looking like it belongs in a food magazine spread.

To start, the Crispy Pork Belly Bites are a must — sticky, caramelised edges with just the right amount of spice and crunch, served with a tangy apple slaw that perfectly cuts through the richness. The Salt & Pepper Squid, seasoned beautifully and paired with a garlic mayo dip, is light, crispy, and incredibly moreish — ideal as a sharer or an indulgent appetizer for one.

When it comes to mains, the Heron Burger deserves applause. Stacked high with juicy beef, smoked bacon, mature cheddar, and a dollop of relish in a toasted brioche bun, it’s everything you’d want from a gastropub burger. If you're after something heartier, the Ale-Battered Haddock & Chips is a crowd-pleaser — golden, flaky fish paired with chunky chips, minted peas, and a punchy tartare sauce.

Plant-based diners aren’t left out either. The Vegan Tagine is both fragrant and satisfying, simmered with sweet apricots, chickpeas, and spiced tomato sauce, served over fluffy couscous. It’s a dish full of warmth and colour that holds its own against the more indulgent options.

On Sundays, they go all out with a proper Sunday Roast — expect thick slices of roast beef or chicken, crispy roast potatoes, seasonal greens, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, and rich gravy. It’s comforting, generous, and everything a roast should be, all while looking out over the peaceful lake.

Finally, if you’ve saved room for dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding is a warm hug in a bowl — dense, moist, and smothered in toffee sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting over the top. Pure joy.
